We’ve all seen it – the growing disconnect between how people present themselves online and who they are in real life. In the world of digital relationships, this misalignment can lead to frustration and, frankly, a lot of wasted time. Weezee set out to solve this issue by bringing authenticity back into online dating through real-time interaction.

Founded in 2016 by Uli Ziebart, Weezee approached online dating differently.

Instead of swiping through endless profiles or getting stuck in text exchanges, Weezee connects users through live video chat. The app’s intelligent algorithm matches people based on compatibility, but the key difference is this: from the first interaction, users talk face-to-face, live, through video.

02. Weezee

Weezee’s mission is simple—using technology to help people form authentic relationships. With its smart matching algorithm, users are connected with those who share similar interests and compatibility, making for more natural, engaging conversations.

The app also comes with several safety measures in place. Users can report inappropriate behavior during video chats, helping to create a safe environment for everyone. Additionally, Weezee’s smart notification system helps users keep track of video chat requests and upcoming dates, adding a layer of excitement and convenience.

It’s no wonder that Weezee won first place at the 2016 Love Hackathon in Munich, standing out for its innovative approach to online dating.

03. Our Role in Weezee’s Success

The application was designed and developed as a complex solution to connect people in a modern and innovative way. Everything is hosted and accessible as a cloud service. The system uses a microservices architecture approach, run on docker and hosted by AWS.

Our role:

Mobile App Development: we built Weezee from the ground up, with a focus on performance and ease of use.
Backend Development: our team designed and implemented the algorithm that matches users with the right people for meaningful conversations.
Web Development: we also developed an informative and user-friendly website for Weezee, ensuring potential users had all the details they needed to get started with the app.
Quality Assurance (QA): our QA team was meticulous in testing the app to ensure it performed flawlessly.
Marketing Campaign: to attract initial users, we led a marketing campaign focused on Polish students, targeting them as beta testers. This campaign built early awareness and excitement around the app.

The result? Weezee has successfully redefined online dating by making real-time video chat the core of its user experience. It allows users to engage in authentic, face-to-face interactions from the very first conversation. By doing so, it removes the frustrations of misrepresentation and builds trust early on, fostering genuine relationships.
